Discover the historic center of Rome through the monuments, stories and powerful families that transformed the Eternal City over the centuries.
Our Rome City Center Free Walking Tour begins at Trajan’s Column, where the story of an ancient emperor’s victories is still carved into stone almost 2,000 years later. From there, we leave Imperial Rome behind and enter the world of popes, noble families and artists whose ambition reshaped the city.
We pass Palazzo Colonna, home to one of Rome’s great aristocratic families for centuries, before stepping inside Sant’Ignazio di Loyola, where one of the city’s most spectacular Baroque illusions will make you question what you’re actually looking at.
Then come the icons. Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain and discover the stories behind Rome’s most famous fountain before reaching the Pantheon, an extraordinary survivor of the ancient city that has stood for almost two thousand years.
Our walk ends in Piazza Navona, built over an ancient Roman stadium and transformed into one of the great stages of Baroque Rome, surrounded by the legacy of popes, artists and rival families.
Along the way, we connect Ancient Rome, the Renaissance and the Baroque through the people who shaped them — revealing the rivalries, ambitions, legends and hidden details behind the landmarks millions come to see.
Come for Rome’s famous sights and leave knowing the stories — and the people — that made them famous.
