I learned so much more than my art history class taught me. More than just chiaroscurro style, we learned how he became known, the little details in his paintings that hint at other life events, and his eventful and controversial life. Max was very entertaining and made the learning fun.
Max is an incredible guide - he has so much knowledge and passion about art and history. One of the highlights of my trip to Rome so far!
Max is amazing! Funny, charming, presents the topic with a lot passion, knowledge and humour. Highly recommended!
That was great fun, Thank you, Max. Would definitely recommend
Simply great! If you are short in time and confused with many walking tours, I’d start with this one. It is like a one person performance by Max. Compliments!
Tour guided with real passion. Highly recommended
It was a fun tour and our guide Max a great storyteller!
Max is the Caravaggio of Storytelling ;) Super fun and interesting!
I enjoyed the combination of art history, biography and art technique in this tour. Learning about Caravaggio as artist and person in situations was great fun.
OMG, Joey was amazing, super passionate, full of knowledge and happy to share. Joey's passion for the subject, theatrical qualities, and wild sense of humor made it one of the best tours we ever took. This is a must for every art lover visiting Rome. One minor note, this tour is presented as a murder mystery, setting some expectations to get 2 hours of feeling like Hercule Poirot but the investigation part is the least important part compared to the history, art, and life of Caravaggio. More than highly recommend.
So refreshing. Not the usual 'basics' tour, but a fun, theatrical, knowledgeable approach. We enjoyed it very very much.
It was a great alternative to spend quality time in Rome. Interesting in powerful. Now I am thinking about Caravaggio again and again. Deep story. Guide really understand the painter and his path. Time flow very quickly! Absolutely recommend this tour!
This tour was a remarkably entertaining, information packed experience led by Joey, a genuinely passionate guide. It's art, it's history, it's comedy and it's drama. You see many churches you usually would just walk past and the overlooked treasures within. The route was also quite short given the time of the tour so (although it is still a walking tour) it's fairly beginner friendly. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who loves art, odd history or entertaining/alternative tours.
A walk in the footsteps of Caravaggio led with passion and commitment. One of the best suggestions for a free tour in Rome.
The tour was very interesting, the guide was plesent and interesting.
Incredible tour! Saw some amazing paintings with a big serving of humour and fun with Joey. Funnily enough, last year I did the tour with the same company about ghosts and ghouls and I remembered Joey from then because of how he mixed drama with humour.
It was AWESOME! Definitely the funniest and the most engaging tour that I have ever attended! The stories were that interesting that I was listening with my mouth open!
Joey, depite being Irish 🤣, was amazing, his enthusiasm & knowledge brought Caravaggio to life. Loved the tour.
Pour tous les amoureux du Caravage, je recommande fortement la visite des lieux que hante encore aujourd’hui le peintre avec Joey (en anglais). Joey est un excellent guide, plein d’humour et d’énergie et sa narration est fascinante.
Such a fun ride with Joey ! Incredible afternoon spendt on Roma street with our guide, Joey, absolutely fascinating and really fun. He gave us a really good trip around the beautiful Caravaggio masterpiece and iconic localizations. I didn’t know so much about this painter before my trip and in the end I would like to learn more about! 5 stars guide for sure !
