This walk will really open your eyes to another side of the city. Stay in the main spots but duck into quiet piazzas and enter churches to make the stories come alive. You get history, art history, culture and social insights. Even though I was jetlagged to my eyeballs I enjoyed every story. Will really help reveal Italy to you.
Excellent tour! The story telling by Joey is phenomenon and well worth it. You see a lot of paintings and get an artists understanding of what they meant at the time. Tracked about 10k steps but mostly in the shade. Would highly recommend for adults who want to need out about caravaggio
Our guru, Joey, knows his way around town, and he clearly has great passion for Caravaggio and his paintings, which is very infectious. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk!
The tour was great, the guru told us a lot of interesting and entertaining stories. Definitely worth it.
Joey is an amazing story teller. The tour was well-organised. Keep up the good work, guys!
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on this tour with Joey. It was definitely one of the highlights of my travels. Joey's storytelling skills were exceptional, and he took us to some unexpected places, like churches with remarkable Caravaggio paintings. The tour was so great that we even decided to join the night tour. If you're looking for an enjoyable and memorable excursion, I highly recommend this tour!!
Super interesting! I loved how he keeps giving details and keeping us curious until the end, It didn’t feel like a usual tour. Super interesting tour and super cool tour guide.
What a delightful tour about Caravaggio and his life/art/death! Joey is a born raconteur, highly recommend!
This is one of the best tours I've ever done. The guru is an amazing storyteller and really put us into Caravaggio's life and time. A true bard. Thank you for this amazing experience and I'll certainly book with you again when in Rome.
Highly recommend, so fun and interesting
Delightful! An absolutely must for those looking for something a little more original than a run-of-the-mill excursion. This unique “behind-the-scenes” introduction to the “hidden in plain sight” artwork of the great Caravaggio is an excursion you would never do on your own. Thankfully, you don’t have to. GuruWalk has put together a two-hour tour that is an absolutely delightful and engaging mix of Roman history and art. And who to execute it better than a loquacious Irishman?! A wonderful experience. Would definitely go on another tour with Joey, and What About Tours! Well done!
Just amazing. Very interesting despite being a niche subject. Great way to learn about an amazing and troubled artist.
This tour added a whole new layer of what we already knew about Caravaggio! The churches were also places that you would never go to had you not been on this tour OR weren’t looking for Caravaggios. It lasted a little over 2 hours and there were many breaks and chances to sit (and it was hot!). His passion and ability to tell a wonderful story made everything worth it! Definitely book this tour if you’ve been to Rome already and need something new, are an art fan, or want to see some back ally things that don’t involve waves of tourists!
Max is an amazing guide who kept us on our toes to learn more about Caravaggio’s life. Really enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend it!
I’ve been on a quite a few walking tours and this was one of the best. It’s very original and doesn’t just show you the sights but gives you an interesting story to follow along. The tour guide was awesome and very engaging and seemed to love the job. The tour was super interesting and helped me get more interested in some of the less known aspects of rome. Would definitely recommend.
Our guide was great and super knowledgeable - he was fun and interesting and took us places we never would have seen in Rome. We also learned a great deal about the scandalous life of Caravaggio! 5 stars Joey!
We could really get into a story. Joey is very funny and professional, should be an actor :)
Absolute gem. Well researched and truly fun. Like watching a comedy show.
Very knowledgable and fun walking tour. Interesting walk and adapted well in an unexpected down pour. Enjoyed learning about the life and work of the artist.
Really great and unique tour that explores the life and death of Caravaggio from an alternative view point. Joe was extremely knowledgeable but also fun and entertaining. When back in Rome, we'll definitely check out the other tours from What About Tours. Keep it up guys!
